“To be a voice is to be a different voice, set apart, unique; otherwise all you are is an echo”. – Me

What does it mean to be a voice in todays world?  What is it that makes you unique? What is it that makes you stand out from the crowd and bring something different into the situations you find yourself in each day? The obvious answer is that in Jesus we each are a different voice, set apart, unique. But are we really? Or do we find ourselves going through our days and through our lives being a mere echo of society around us?

I can remember a song my daughter and niece used to sing over and over “We will abandon it all for the sake of the call, No other reason at all than the sake of the call, Wholly devoted to live and to die… for the sake of the call”. Some songs never leave you do they; they echo around your life as a constant reminder that there is something different about you, that try as you might you cannot really fit back into the world you once knew without abandoning a love so precious that to do so would destroy something fundamental in your life.

A friend made a comment today on my Facebook page in response to the quote at the beginning of this entry She said “We each have an individual voiceprint that heaven recognizes and authenticates and consequently responds to…with great joy.”  – Paulette Leibezeit

Isaiah 40:9 says …lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid…

We need to lift up our voice and be not afraid! Why? Well I’m sure there are many reasons but two that spring to mind are these

  • As Paulette said above Heaven recognizes, authenticates and responds to your voice. Your voice, if you are a child of God, carries weight in heaven. Lift it up, be not afraid, let heaven hear your voice lifted up – in prayer, in praise, in testimony. God will tune in to your voice, he recognizes it, hears you and will answer you when you call.
  • Your testimony of the power and presence of God in your life cannot be underestimated. When you share the things God has done in your life the power of prophecy goes into action and your testimony prophesies to the one you are sharing with “God can do this in your life too!” Your voice carries with it all the weight, authority and power of Heaven. God sent his word to do things and promises that His word will not return void but accomplish what he sends it to do.  Send your words intentionally. Send them to accomplish things in the spirit over the lives of those you share with and God will ride on your words and accomplish what you send them to do.

So… lift up your voice, be not afraid. Let your unique individual voice be heard in a world full of echoes.
